In the 1800's, the namesake of Wichita Falls (the city’s original falls) washed away in a flood. In 1987, a new falls was then constructed upstream. The present 54-foot man-made waterfall is a multi-level cascade on the south bank of the Wichita River. The Falls can be seen by southbound motorists on I-44 as they cross the bridge over the river. The Falls provides many wonderful photo opportunities, and it is also the site of many outdoor weddings each year. Located just under 8 miles from our Camp-resort, the falls are a must-see Wichita Falls attraction! It also includes about a half-mile hike along the Wichita River. The Falls trail map can be found here.

Kemp Center for the Arts
Built in 1917, the Kemp Center for the Arts was built at the request of Flora Kemp who, when asked by her husband, Joseph, what she would like for her birthday, suggested a public library. In 1998, the City of Wichita Falls leased the historic building to the Arts Council, which began an extensive renovation project to restore the building.
